Jesus welcomed Vashti Laverne Craig into heaven Saturday, May 16, 2015.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday in Lucas Funeral Home Chapel, Hurst. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home.
Vashti was born Feb. 9, 1924, to Horace Sheppard and Blanche Catchings Sheppard in Thorndale. Vashti loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. The Lord and his word were her constant companions all her life. She accepted Christ as her Savior at age 7. Her prayers touched many people. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bedford for many years. Vashti was an excellent seamstress and quilt-maker and enjoyed being creative in many ways. She also enjoyed playing Christian music on her piano and guitar.
Survivors: Daughter, Ruth Kay Guerrero; son, Larry Don Henson; brothers, Glen and Garland Sheppard; sister, Lois Preece; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
