HURST -- Vernon Carrol Oxford, 89, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2015.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Thursday at the DFW National Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst.
Vernon was born on November 12, 1926 in Bentonville, Arkansas and was raised in Dodge City, Kan. He served in the Navy during World War II on the Aircraft Carrier Boxer. Vernon was a loyal employee of Southwestern Bell for over 45 years.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bobbie Jean Oxford; sons, Kenneth Oxford and wife, Diane, and Danny Oxford, and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Timothy Oxford and wife, Emily, Lisa Tjaden and husband Nate, Elizabeth DeCoito and husband Stan, and Stephanie Hay and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brendan, Crystal, Megan, Owen and Jacob, great-granddaughter, Aubree Edgers; and many other extended family and friends.
