With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the family of Vicki Diane Oefelein announces her peaceful passing on November 7, 2024, at her residence in Denton, Texas. She was born on November 12, 1953, in Longview, Texas, to the late Harold and Helen Williams.
Vicki was a woman of immense intellect and dedication, earning her Associate's Degree at Kilgore Jr. College in 1974, followed by a Bachelor's Degree at Stephen F. Austin State University in 1976. She continued to excel academically, achieving a Master's Degree from Texas Women's University in Denton in the same year. As a librarian, she served her community with grace and passion, impacting the lives of many at Collin County Community College.
A longtime member of the American Library Association, Vicki's love for books was evident in her vast collection and her continuous quest for knowledge. Her kindness extended to her rescue efforts for cats in need, embodying compassion and generosity in all aspects of her life.
In 1980, Vicki married her beloved husband, David Oefelein, with whom she shared 44 years of joy, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen Williams; her sister, Kathy Williams; and her brother, Douglas Williams. She leaves behind her beloved husband, David, her cherished cat, Whitney, as well as a host of relatives and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In honor of Vicki's life, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA of Texas. May her legacy of kindness and compassion live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
