Vickie Rocamontes

June 15, 1962 — April 18, 2022

Vickie Therese Gardner Woods Rocamontes, age 59, of Watauga, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on April 18th, 2022.

She was born in Carthage, Mississippi on June 15, 1962 to parents Louise Badon and Charles Oliver Gardner. Vickie grew up in Humbolt and Matoon, Illinois. She graduated from Matoon High School in 1980. She worked for the original Burger King there for many years before moving to Texas in 1984. She began working for American Airlines the following year where she met the love of her life. She and Rocky Rocamontes were married February 14th, 1998.

Vickie has three children and three grandchildren whom she adored with all of her heart. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen preparing food for her friends and family and having a cup of early-morning coffee with Rocky on the patio each day. Her famous Amish bread was known from coast to coast. She loved to crochet and never missed out on a good estate sale. She was an avid music-lover and was especially fond of Led Zeppelin. Everyone knew Vickie as a fantastic cook, a fabulous baker, and most importantly as a loving, caring, and compassionate friend to everyone she met. Nothing compared to the laughter and love she shared with her family and close friends.

She is survived by her husband, Rocky Rocamontes; children, Aaron Woods, Amanda Rocamontes, and Andrew Rocamontes; grandchildren, Averi McCaslin, Lillian Rocamontes, and Lucas Rocamontes; sisters, Penny Youngblood (husband, H.A.), Kim Villarreal (husband, Chris), Trish Fowler (husband, Jerry), and Heather Workman (husband, Dave); nephews, Cody Villarreal, Parker Workman, Christopher Perteet, and Stephen Gerber; nieces, Shelby Youngblood, Bella Workman, Lexy Workman, and great niece Charlee Rose Villarreal; step-parents, Merced "Pa-D" Duarte and Sue Gardner, and many more loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Edna “Mommy Edna” Scott; grandmother, Jessi Sula "Granny" King; mother, Louise Duarte; father, Charlie Gardner; neice, Jessica Danielle Youngblood; nephew, Chris Ryan Villarreal; and cousin, Kaleb Scott Freeny and Jr. James Rocamontes..
