Violet Marie McLaughlin Burtin, 98, was born to Dan and Mary McLaughlin on April 23, 1920.
She grew un in Chanute, Kansas. Violet went through the Tough Depression days. She graduated from high school in 1938. Violet went to San Antonio to be with her sister and worked as a car hop at a Drive-In restaurant. She married the love of her life, Arlie, on September 1, 1940. They have two children Marilyn and Alan. She loved her family, loved to work outside and did arts and crafts. As she wished, she is being buried in a dress that she made. She loved to write poems, which there is a book of over 100 poems that she has written. Violet was a member of the First Baptist Church, Grapevine. She was a hard worker and lived each day to the fullest.
Violet is survived by her children, Marilyn Vincent and her husband David and Alan Burtin and his wife Elaine; 6 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren and many more family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Arlie Burtin.
Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, 700 W. Wall Street, Tuesday 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home, Grapevine. A graveside will follow the service at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville at 11:30 am.
