Virginia "Ginger" Elaine Davenport

July 29, 1949 — February 14, 2022

Virginia “Ginger” Elaine Davenport was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on February 14, 2022 at age 72.

She was born to Charles and Geraldine Clithero on July 29, 1949. After graduating high school, Ginger married her high school sweetheart, Danny Davenport, and they started a family. Together, they had 3 children: Rob, Angela and Amy.

Danny and Ginger raised their family in Oklahoma where she worked for 19 years as a Legal Secretary for Cities Service/Occidental Petroleum. After being affected by a layoff, Ginger began pursuit of a nursing degree. Before completing the degree, Ginger and Danny moved to Texas where Ginger began working for the Texas Department of Transportation. She filled several roles during her 27 year career with TxDOT, most recently serving as the Executive Assistant for the Fleet Operations Division.
Ginger and Danny devoted many years to supporting the Texas BASS Federation at the local and state level. Ginger handled tournament registrations and setup of the weigh-in site. She was loved by all the anglers.

Ginger loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. The family enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing and enjoying the outdoors. She was always looking out for everyone else and never let anyone go hungry. She loved time with her grandchildren: Brittany, Trevin and Penelope. It didn’t matter what anyone was doing or how far it meant they had to travel, she wanted to be there. She had a heart full of love for everyone that crossed her path.

A reception to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday February, 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 South Main Street, Keller, TX.
