Virginia Lee Preas

With heavy hearts the family of Virginia Lee Preas announces her passing on March 21st, 2024 in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Virginia Lee (Bennett) Preas was born to loving parents Gordon and Lois Bennett on August 26th, 1940 in Coleman, Texas. She graduated from L.D. Bell High School, class of ’58. Virginia moved from Coleman to Hurst in 1953, and in 1964 married the love of her life, Donald Preas. Although she did move from Hurst, Virginia became a permanent resident of North Richland Hills in 1974, where she and Donald raised their son Duane. Virginia worked as an accounts manager in the Aviation and Plating industry until she retired in 2018. From then until her passing, Virginia’s focus became her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Her love of animals followed her throughout her life.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lois Bennett; her husband, Donald Preas; her brother, Master Sergeant Jerry Bennett; her sister, Geneva Curry and her husband JV Curry; and her great grandson, Anthony James.

Virginia is survived by her son, Duane Preas and his wife Tonya; her brothers Allen, Donald, and Wayne Bennett; her grandchildren, Curtis Preas, Brittany Preas, Ginger Preas, Alexis Hallerbach, and Nathaniel Gilmour; her great-grandchildren; Kailah Hopkins, Aiden Gilmour, Harlow Hallerbach, and Lorelai Gilmour; and many nephews, nieces, and other extended family.

She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held in Virginia’s honor on April 6th, 2024 starting at 3 o’clock pm at Lucas Funeral Home, located at 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst, Texas 76053.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Virginia’s name to either the North Texas Food Bank or North Richland Hills Animal Shelter. Two charities close to Virginia’s heart.
