Wanda Jean Lewis

Wanda Jean McLendon Lewis, born on March 13, 1931, passed away on May 26, 2021.
Wanda was one of four siblings, Billy McLendon, Clarice “Dinkie“ Nix, Steve Garrison and Gary White. She graduated Hico High School in 1949 and cosmetology school in 1951. One of her proudest achievements came when she received an Associate’s degree from Tarrant County College after her own children had graduated high school. She was a business owner and retired in 2009.
Wanda was married to Donald Ray Lewis from January 5, 1952 to March 4, 2009. They raised four children. Teresa Lynn passed in 1983. Her surviving children, Tambera Denise, Tanya Jeanene and Stephen Ray. Her grandchildren Tara Paige, Tara Gay and Andrew Stephen. Her great grandchildren, Madeline, Edyn, Kaitlyn, Emily, Austin, Avery, Annibell and Jaden. She also has three great-great grandchildren. Grandson in-law Zachery Jennings and Daughter in-law Michelle Lewis. Wanda had many beloved extended family members that included her sister in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides. She shared a special bond with Janie Hubbard Maxie. She is predeceased by her grandson Dallas Matthew.
Wanda was an advocate for the mentally ill, committed to helping others in need. She was a lover of the arts and an extensive traveler. She looked beyond each horizon with renewal of compassion, humanity and joy. She will be missed by all even to whom she did not greet.
