It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Warren Edwin Simi at 101 years in Bedford, Texas. He was born in Renton, Washington on September 24th, 1921 to Finnish-American parents Eugenia and Matts Albert Simi. His brothers Hugo, George and Robert preceded him in death. Warren graduated salutatorian of Ballard’s high school class of 1939 in Seattle. He worked at Boeing Aircraft prior attending the University of Washington. During the war Lieutenant Simi served as a navigator in a troop carrier mission Operation Varsity, the largest parachute drop of 20,000 soldiers unequalled to this day. Having married Geraldine Ann Freer in San Antonio during the war, they moved to Warren’s hometown of Seattle after the war. Then came children Warren, Laura and Mark. After 10 pleasant years with extended family there years, job opportunities led the family to Texas.

His majority years were with early careers at Menasco and many concluding years at Bell Helicopter in supervisory roles. In 1963 Warren and Gerry parted ways. Later he found his lifelong soulmate in Wanda Louise Lowry. They were married on March 13, 1976. With Wanda and her children Tari, Walt and Kristi they created a Simi Bunch. Warren and Wanda were happily married until her passing in 2018. They were the center of many family gatherings and holidays. They were Yellowjacket/ Tin Cup residents with his brothers during the summers for many years. They sponsored many summer vacations with family and friends. Warren was a man of many talents leaving us with many fond memories. He enjoyed the art of cooking and painting. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, lover of card games and Dewars. His tenure as Boy Scoutmaster inspired many appreciative young boys who knew the front door was forever open to them. They had many lifelong friends who remained devoted to them and were treated as family. Warren and Wanda were dedicated members of Christ Wesleyan Church with particular gratitude for Pastor Ben Gerald and the entire congregation.

He is survived by his children Warren and Tammy Simi, Laura Simi and Chuck Askew, Mark Simi and Janice Cole, Kristi Lowry, Walt Lowry and Lisa Smith and Tari Fudge.
