Wayne Allen Courreges, Sr.
Wayne Allen Courreges, Sr., 91, of Bedford, Texas, our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away December 27, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 29, 1926 in Houston, Texas, a son of Felix Loyd
and Evelyn Steele Kay Courreges. He married Lenora Faye Gilbert October 8, 1948 in Houston.
He was the father of four children, Wayne Allen Courreges, Jr of Austin; Suzette Courreges Wright of San Antonio, Douglas Gilbert Courreges; and, Daniel Ray Courreges of Colleyville. He is survived by his wife, three of his children, 24 grandchildren, and 50+ great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his son, Douglas Gilbert.
After graduating from high school as salutatorian of his class, he was drafted. He served in the military during World War II. He was a member of Company C 45th Battalion in Germany and France. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge in artillery. He received two bronze stars for his service.
After he returned in 1945, he was hired by Southern Engine & Pump Company as a purchasing agent. The company opened a branch in Dallas where he became a salesman and then a Vice-President January 9, 1961. He remained with the company for 45 years through to his retirement.
He was a dedicated and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 am at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. There will be a viewing for friends and family on January 3, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Lucas Funeral Home 1321 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst, Texas 76053.
