Wayne "Tom" Thomas Nygard

January 24, 1944 — September 11, 2020

Nygard, Wayne (Tom) Thomas, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 11, 2020. Born January 24, 1944 in New Castle, PA. Preceded in death by his parents Jack and Muriel (née Harris) Nygard. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Patricia (née Puglin) Nygard, three sons; Tom and Janet Nygard of Laurens, SC, Bob and Suzanne Nygard of Lake Grove, NY, Joe and Kristen Nygard of Simpsonville, SC, sister, Marsha Boyle Cochran of New Castle, PA, 7 grandchildren; Sarah, Thomas, Kaitlin, Joseph, Jacob, Will and Emily, as well as a host of loving family and friends and his beloved pet, Milo!
Tom was a gentleman and very thoughtful person who wore many titles: son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, manager, sports fan, dog-whisperer, fisherman, hunter, volunteer, world traveler, storyteller, man of faith, member of North Fort Worth Baptist church and friend to all! Those that were fortunate to know Tom know that he loved traveling and meeting new people. He loved talking about the aviation industry, sports and all things fishing or hunting. He enjoyed sharing his adventures of fishing in Alaska, hunting in Canada & Montana and the many cruises he took around the world.
He worked for US Airways at LaGuardia Airport and Tampa International Airport and retired after 35 years of dedicated service. During his retirement years he volunteered at Code Blue, Upward basketball, Dallas Safari Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ambassador program at DFW Airport and Harris Methodist Allison Hospital. Although a Mets fan, he worked as an usher for spring training at Yankee Stadium in Tampa, Florida.... his sons are almost ready to forgive him.
When people think of him, they remember a selfless friend and cheerful person with a witty sense of humor.
Tom is now with the Lord and reuniting with family and friends. I bet he is drinking coffee and talking about where to go fishing!
Good night, Tom. We’ll see you in the morning.
In memory of Tom, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
