Leonard Smith, 82, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017.
Graveside service: 11:00 am Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday evening at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter or Meals on Wheels.
Leonard was born on June 29, 1934 in Fort Worth. He was a 1952 graduate of Poly High School, Boxed in Golden Gloves from 1949 to 1958, served in the 49th Armored Division, and was employed from 1955 to 1976 with WBAP-TV Channel 5. Leonard retired after 41 years as Umpire-in-Chief for the City of Hurst Softball Program and was inducted into the following Halls of Fame: ASA National Inditatior Fraternity, H.E.B. Sports and T.A.A.F. He enjoyed softball, hunting, fishing, golf, and watching John Wayne movies.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers.
Survivors: Wife, Alliene of 61 years; daughters, Winnie Grossman and husband Gary of Mansfield; grandson, Brian Grossman and wife Rachel and Eric Grossman and wife Cayla; two great-granddaughters, Adalynn Grossman and Charlie Ann Grossman; and one great-grandson, Colt Grossman.
