William R. Anderson

HURST -- William R. Anderson, Sr. "Bill", 91, went to be with our Lord on September 20, 2014, surrounded by his family. Service: 10:30 am at Bellevue Baptist Church, Thursday, September 25th. Visitation: Wednesday, from 6-8pm at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst.
Bill (Andy) was born Feb. 21, 1923 in Odem, TX and lived in Hurst most of his life. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division from 1942-1946. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1986, after 39 years of service. Bill was a long-time member of Bellevue Baptist Church and lifetime member of the Hurst Masonic Lodge. He loved fishing, camping and was an avid reader.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother and great-grandson, Eli.
Survivors: Wife of 67 years, Vernenice Anderson, Sons, Bill (Brenda), Larry (Pam), John (Jodi), Daughter, Susan Blackwell (Bill), 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
