William “Greg” Ashton, age 77, of Trophy Club TX passed away on February 22, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Greg was born on December 6, 1946, in Martins Ferry, OH to parents William James and Stella (Reasbeck) Ashton. He graduated from St. John’s Central High in Bellaire, OH in 1965 and graduated with a BBA from West Liberty College, WV in 1972.
Greg married Janna Rose Mundy in 1968 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Greg and Janna have two children: Heather Ashton Wunsch of Trophy Club, TX and Scott William Ashton of Roanoke, TX.
After graduation, Greg began his career in insurance with Aetna which moved his family to Louisville, KY. His career eventually moved the family to Indianapolis, IN and then to Waxahachie, TX where he was the Regional Manager of Zurich Insurance and then Gulf Insurance. In 1994, Greg and Janna moved to Baton Rouge, LA, where he was VP of Audubon Insurance (AIG). After a few years, they returned to Texas and settled in Trophy Club where Greg started his own Insurance Brokerage (TSRP).
Greg loved a good 12-year-old scotch, a fine cigar, telling stories and golf. He especially loved spending time with his golf group at Trophy Club Country Club where was a member for over twenty-five years. He and Janna were faithful members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Colleyville for over twenty years.
Greg is survived by his wife, Janna (Mundy) Ashton, as well as his two children, Heather Wunsch and husband Cameron, Scott Ashton and wife Heather; his grandchildren Ashton Wunsch of Houston, TX, Evan Wunsch of Trophy Club, TX, and Brett Taliaferro of Roanoke, TX; and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Ashton (Donna) of St. Clairsville, OH; his aunt and godmother Sister David Clare Reasbeck of Louisville, KY; brother-in-law, Jimmy Mundy (Helen) of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law, Jackie Mundy of Leivasy, WV; sister-in-law, Connie Mundy of McArthur, OH; plus, many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Bill & Stella Ashton; Uncle and Godfather, Monsignor David Reasbeck; brother-in-law, Todd Mundy; and, his best friend, Tim Conway.
There will be a Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Monday, March 18th, 2024, at 11am. The family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers at
