William Terry Austin

October 21, 1950 — September 22, 2023

William Terry Austin, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and colleague to all that knew and loved him.

He was born on Saturday, October 21, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas to William “Bill” James Austin & Bella Jo Austin.

William attended Mapleton High School in Thornton, CO; Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX and received his Bachelor's of Theology; The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY and received his Master's of Divinity.

Terry and Sharon met at church in a youth group that Sharon’s parents led. They both attended the same college where they got engaged and later married on August 24, 1974. After they graduated Terry attended seminary in Louisville, KY. While there they had their first son Jeremy. After Terry graduated the three of them moved to Colorado for about a year and a half. They later moved to Morse, TX where Terry was called to pastor First Baptist Church of Morse. They were there for 13 years. During that time, they had two more sons, Matthew and Andrew. In 1993 they moved to Ft. Worth, Tx. Terry became the Director of Stewardship for the Baptist General Convention of Texas and was there until 2007. He then went on to the Tarrant Baptist Foundation as Executive Director until 2009. Terry Began Austin Brothers Publishing in 2008. He was a writer, Editor and Publisher for the remainder of his life. In 2012 Terry was co-pastor of Bread Fellowship.

William is survived by his wife Sharon; three sons Jeremy Austin (wife Jaclyn), Matthew Austin (wife, Tina), Andrew Austin (wife, Carey); sister Linda Siefken (husband Dutch); brothers, Steve Austin (wife Andrea), Jeff Austin (wife Margie); 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
