William Eugene "Gene" Beloate

William Eugene “Gene” Beloate passed November 23, 2019. He was born March 15, 1926 in a log cabin in Memphis, TN. His family moved to Texas soon after. They settled in Haltom City where he graduated from Birdville High. He joined the Navy in 1944 after graduating at mid term. He was stationed on the USS Ransom, a minesweeper stationed in the Pacific theater throughout WWII"?

After the war he attended North Texas Agricultural Collage in Arlington. He met Ruth Howard on a blind date and they were married June 24, 1950. They moved to Austin where he received his Bachelors degree from University of Texas.

They moved back to Haltom City, where he taught P.E. and coached at Birdville Jr. High.

On November 26, 1951 their first daughter, Jan was born. On December 31, 1952 Kim was born.

In 1955 they all moved to Anchorage, Alaska. A life long dream of Gene’s. He taught P.E. and coached at Roming and Clark Jr Highs.

On January 23. 1957 Lisa was born. In 1965 they moved to Carbondale, Illinois for a year, where he received his Masters in recreation and outdoor education at Southern Illinois University. They moved back to Anchorage in 1966. In 1967 they moved to Texas where he joined his father at the family business, Beloates’s Aircraft Trim, Inc. He took over the business the next summer after his father passed.

Gene and Ruth always loved to travel. From the many summer trips back to Alaska, to travels all over the U.S. and the world. They were always up for an adventure.

Gene was a pilot, hunter, fisherman, rancher, gambler and gardener. Many people have admired his garden along the access road across from Bell High school. He always planted well more then we could eat and enjoyed sharing it with anyone that stopped by.

He was an active member of the N.E. Kiwanis Club for many years. He was also a founding member of the Southwest Industrial Fabric Association. He followed his grandfather and father as members of the Masons/Shriners.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents James Sterling and Mary Lou Beloate, sister Mary Lou “Sis” Nash, daughter Kim Rainey and wife Ruth Howard Beloate.

He is survived by daughters Jan Lasher and Lisa Grimmett and son-in-law John “Scooter” Grimmett. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Amanda Hayes, Roxanne Wilson, Kajay Garman, Colton Rainey, Sterling Grimmett, Malee Caviness & Kayla Rainey. Eleven great grandchildren Morgan Myers, Caitlin Wilson, Joseph Samperi, Jacob Samperi, Mason Hayes, Alice Caviness, Jewell Caviness, Tommy Garman, Brody Garman, Bennett Rainey & Emerson Rainey. And two great great grandchildren Mara Myers & Caroline Myers.

He is also survived by many loving friends and former students.

Services and visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Visitation will be December 3rd from 6:00-8:00 PM. Service is on December 4th at 10:00 AM with graveside service at DFW National Cemetery at 2:15 PM.
