Bill, "Captain Wonderful," was born in Prescott, Ark., on Oct. 27, 1936, to Earl and Eugenia Herrington. He graduated from Carter-Riverside High School in 1954 and from Texas Tech University in 1963 with a degree in architecture. He lived the rest of his life as a devoted Red Raider.
He was employed by Preston M. Geren Architects from 1963 until he formed William A. Herrington & Associates Architects in 1984. As an architect, his fingerprints are on some of the finest buildings in Fort Worth. He retired in 2011.

They had two children and three grandchildren whom he adored. He was involved in church activities and the Downtown Rotary Club of Fort Worth where he took lead roles in Habitat for Humanity projects. One of his greatest passions was restoring and driving antique cars and contributing to the restoration of a Greyhound bus. He was involved with both the Model T and Model A Clubs of Fort Worth. But his greatest gift was as a husband, father and grandfather. He was the creator of great moments.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Eugenia; his father, Earl; and two sisters, Nancy and Jimmilee.
