“Mr. Bill”. Every child that ever met him called him “Mr. Bill” and every teenager called him the “fun Dad”. Every adult thought “who is this guy” and in the end, could not resist that smile and crazy demeanor. Annoying as he could be, you couldn’t help but laugh along with him. A lover of life, family and friends who never met a stranger.
He loved sports of any kind. He was as competitive as they come, even trying out for the UT Football team as a walk on. Once he came home all bloodied from playing “a church” sand volleyball game only to remark “you should have seen the point I made and my awesome recovery!” He also loved to cook, read and work in the yard.
Bill and Lynette met at Montgomery Wards at NE Mall in Hurst, TX. They married, had one daughter, Lindsey and moved to Keller, TX in 1989. Bill never knew a stranger and made it his job to look after all the neighbors and find any way he could to lend a helping hand.
Bill was born March 21, 1952 in Ft. Belvoir, VA. He grew up as an "Air Force Brat", moving every few years. He spent four years living in the Panama Canal Zone where he was very active in Boy Scouts, baseball, and swimming as well as playing guitar and singing with his brothers. Moving back to the United States, his family settled in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended the University of Texas and the University of Texas in Arlington. He worked for Cullum and Boren, Montgomery Ward, Artex and for over 35 years at Jostens as a manufacturer’s representative in the military ring division.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Sr. and Myra and his sister Susie. He is survived by his wife Lynette, daughter Lindsey, siblings Cathy Piorkowski, Lisa and Richard Cashman, Gary Cashman, Lee Hello, and Lisa and Joel Evans, father-in-law- Bill Jones and 9 nieces and nephews.
Bill’s family wants to express their deepest gratitude to all of his care-givers over the past three years at Baylor Grapevine Hospital, Baylor Medical Center at Trophy Club, Zale Lipshy University Hospital and Aspen Home Health and Hospice. A very special thank you to Dr. Toral Patel and Dr. Barry Firstenberg who were Bill’s biggest advocates while they led him through treatment. Bill’s wife and daughter also wish to thank all of their friends for the love and support they have shown over the difficult years of Bill’s illness. While he will be greatly missed, Bill is now with his Lord and Savior.
