William “Billy” Larry Elkins, 62, of Haltom City entered into rest Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2020.
Billy was a true, blue Texan, heart and soul. He was born and raised in the city of Fort Worth and never left the great state of Texas. In high school he played football but also liked and participated in many other sports. After high school graduation he coached a Fort Worth little league team and enjoyed playing softball, football and running. Billy liked running so much that he encouraged many friends to take up running and continuously supported their efforts. His wife Theresa, also born in Fort Worth and he met on a blind date. They were married in August of 1978 and welcomed two sons, William Larry Elkins II and Jeremy Michael Elkins.
Billy loved family first and foremost, Dr. Pepper second and was an avid sports fan. Weekends were spent watching and supporting his favorite Texas teams; the University of Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. Billy enjoyed playing softball with many of his nephews and friends. He participated in numerous softball leagues throughout the years to include an over 50 senior league.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, William O. Lyons, three sisters; Hilda Roden, Connie Roden and Janie Woolley.
He is survived by his wife; Theresa Dent Elkins, two sons; William Larry Elkins II. and wife, Amanda, Jeremy Michael Elkins and wife, Megan, four grandchildren; Seanasea Elkins, Seth Elkins, Weston Corey and Liam Elkins, His Mother, Earldean Elkins, one brother; Lewis Elkins and wife Tracy, and numerous family members.
