William Richard Folks “Bill”, 87 passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024, surrounded by his family. Bill was born on Feb 18, 1937, to Elsie and Howard Folks in Franklinton, Louisiana. While growing up in Franklinton he joined the National Guard in high school, later going on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force in 1962 as an Aircraft Mechanic. While stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, Bill met the love of his life Carolyn Ann Wilson and they were soon married on May 15, 1965. They had two daughters and two sons. Bill truly loved the outdoors especially huntng and fishing with his family. He was a wonderful grandpa never missing an event, soccer game (even in the hot Texas sun), band concert or awards ceremony. He was cherished by all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed. He was a devoted Christian and later in life a member of Friendship Baptists Church in Hurst where he enjoyed signing in the choir and fellowship with the Anchor Men group. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Folks in 2016 and his oldest daughter Denisa Pinkerton in 2013. He was survived by his daughter Theresa Jamison and husband Jett, two sons: Greg Folks and wife Kathleen; and Steve Folks; and brother Percy Folks and by his 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on July 12th at 11:00 am at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, TX and a veteran’s gravesite ceremony will be held at the DFW National Cemetery at 1pm. Visitation is Thursday July 11 from 6pm-8pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas.
