William Thomas “Bill / Poppy” Harris has joined our Lord and Savior on January 3, 2020. Born in Willoughby, N.S.W. Australia on September 19, 1922, Bill joined the Australian Navy in 1939 at the age of 17, he served his country for 5 years during World War II where he manned a vessel participating in American Military personnel rescues.
In 1991 Bill married Barbara Standish and remained in Australia with Barbara for 9 years until 2000, and then moved to Bedford, Texas where he resided until his graduation.
Bill was very active at Restoration Church in Euless, Texas; in Ministry, Men’s Ministry, a Greeter and as a Life Group Leader. He loved his wife, children, gardening, music, dancing, his dog “Beanie”, but first and most of all, his Lord Jesus Christ, his family and his friends, and he will be sorely missed.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eliza Harris, brothers, Allen, Joe, Ron and Ken. Pat and Kim Standish, (grandchildren, Marcus, and Zachary Standish).
Bill leaves behind a loving family; wife of 28 years Barbara Standish Harris, children David Standish (Tena), Mike Standish (Pegeen), Kathleen Racek (Ross), Kelly Standish (Kathi) and Steve Standish (Glenna). Grandchildren, Reagan Dee Hamilton, Cameron (Jonathan) Smith, Lauren Nichols (Matt), Dylan Standish (Allison), Alexia Standish, Dalton Standish, Carly Morris (Matt), David Blanchard (Amber), Chelsea Standish (Eric), Christian Standish (Victoria), Nathan Standish, Parker Standish and Mason Standish. Great-grandchildren, Ashlee Stover, Ethan Stover, Allie Nichols, Grant Standish, Kayly Morris, Zayn Morris, Emberlynn Blanchard, Aliya Blanchard, Devin Fagan, Ixchel Cantu, Alex Estrada, Anthony Estrada and CJ Standish. In addition, he leaves behind a brother Noel Harris and daughter Robyn Kassas (Tony), as well as grandchildren, Dee, Adam, Brooke, Christy, Dzintra, Jaime, Nathan and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Lucas Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
