William Peter Jablonowski

March 13, 1966 — November 5, 2022

William "Bill" Peter Jablonowski went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the very young age of 56 years. He was surrounded by family, in the comfort of his own home, and in the presence of God.

Bill was born on March 13, 1966 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He resided in Southlake, TX near the legacy created with his wife Renae, Jabo's Ace Hardware. Jabo's Ace Hardware was established in 2005 after a lifetime career with Ace Hardware Corporation, and has grown to five locations over the past 17 years. Bill started working at a premier hardware store, Elliott's Ace Hardware, in West Allis, WI in 1984 when he was in high school. Bill worked there through college and upon graduation followed his nose, applied and was subsequently hired by Ace Hardware Corporation in Oak Brook, IL. He married the love of his life, Renae, and continued on to have three children and three grandchildren, who have always joined him, along other family members, at the dinner table every Sunday to commune with one another in love and laughter. Bill, Renae and their first child Alyssa made the move to Illinois in 1989. This would be the first of six relocations they would put the family through as they grew with Ace. They were blessed with two more children, Zachary and Caitlyn along the way. During the 16 years with Ace Corporate, Bill continued to grow in various capacities learning from some of the best Ace retailers across the county on how they ran their businesses. He always said you have to commit to your business, learn every single thing there is to know about that business, never stop learning and mentoring people along the way. Bill was attracted to the hardware business for many reasons, but one of the most compelling reasons was in all of his travels and tenure with the company he was continuously impressed with the quality of the people. Customers, owners, store associates, corporate support staff and vendors alike seemed to fall into a similar category of "salt of the earth" type folks. Because of this, Bill saw this was the kind of business he would like to build a future around and one he would be proud to pass on to his family someday down the road. Their legacy continues on and keeps serving the local communities and raising funds for our local children's hospitals, Cook Children's and Children's Health. He was a man after Christ's own heart, eager to strengthen his faith and knowledge. He was passionate, full of love, and set on a mission while on this Earth. Bill's dream came true. He did all God sent him here to do, and he did it with grace and love.

Bill was always very cautious with his health due to an early diagnosis of aplastic anemia. Right before COVID, his hematologist recommended he get screened for his genetics due to his extensive medical history and concerns. From the test we found out he had a rare gene mutation, Dyskeratosis Congenita. In 2021, he was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma and aggressively fought it in the beginning of 2022. After a victory trip to Europe with his wife, clear scans and yearly fishing trips to Canada, his cancer returned more aggressive than ever. Bill fought with every ounce of strength he had until the very last moment, just like the epic battles he faced bringing the trophy fish into the boat. He was completely sound of mind, concerned with taking care of his family and fighting tremendously hard with hope to stay as long as possible with his family. Bill's favorite part of fishing and life wasn't the trophy at the end of the line but the battle to get the fish in the boat. He was resourceful, determined, stubborn as heck, assertive, confident, and he was a trailblazer. He knew God was ever so present in his life, and he wanted to honor God by being a good and faithful servant. He wanted to show his children and grandchildren that anything was possible to achieve if you just trust God and abide in His will, and that you don't stop moving until Jesus comes to this Earth again. As Bill's grandson Theo says, "Grandpa is fishing with Jesus, catching big whales" or walleyes. Bill was truly a fisherman after God's own heart. He is at peace now, the cancer has been defeated. The battle has been won, and he is now a saints triumphant. "So we are always confident, because we know that while we are living in the body, we are away from our home with the Lord. We live by faith and not by sight. We are confident, and we would prefer to leave the body and to be at home with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
