William Hooker Link of Kingsland, Texas, passed away on December 8, 2019 in Keller, Texas after a brief illness. He was born on June 30, 1945 in Houston, Texas – and was the youngest of five sons born to Edwin Cary Link, Jr. and Franchelle Watson Link who both preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his older brothers, Edwin Cary Link, III and Elbert Watson Link. He is survived by his son: William Cary Link and wife Britney; his brothers: Cabanne Hooker Link and wife Lyndall, and Theodore Carl Link and wife Isabel; and his sister in law Ann Bordovsky Link, as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family members and countless devoted friends.
Bill (also known as Billy to family & friends) graduated from Lamar High School, Houston, Texas in 1963. He then attended the University of Houston where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
He was drafted into United States Army. He spent two years on active military service with the 2nd Battalion of the 8th Infantry of the 4th Infantry Division, including assignment in Vietnam, 1966-1967.
An active member of the commercial landscaping industry, he served as national president of the Professional Grounds Management Society in 1980. In over 35 years of experience he managed the development of many award-winning properties in Texas, Nevada, and seven other states. In addition to having his own company, W. H. Link & Associates, Inc., he worked with developers including Century Development, Camden Properties and Realm Development.
Throughout his lifetime, Bill’s true character was also revealed through his continued commitment to maintaining his many personal and professional relationships. A longtime parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, he was active in the parish serving as head usher and extraordinary minister of holy communion.
He shared his great knowledge of nature and of the outdoors with friends and family members on annual fishing and hunting trips. The memories are cherished by those who sat silently with him in a deer stand, shared stories around a campfire and reeled in a big fish, all with his guidance.
Billy Link was always a gentleman and would go out of his way to help others. He was a man with whom was honor was sacred and virtue safe.
