William Ervin Lloyd

William “Bill” Lloyd, 75, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at his home on January 10, 2023.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023 at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church - Grace Chapel, in Southlake, Texas. A reception for family and friends will be held in Evans Hall immediately following the service. A private internment will be at White’s Chapel Columbarium at a future date.

William was born March 12, 1947 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Willie and Norvelle Lloyd. He was the second of six children. A proud member of Harding High School, he graduated in 1965. William joined the U.S. Army Reserves in1965 and served until June, 25, 1971. He earned an associate degree in business management from Tarrant County College. He was proud to be an American and was very respectful of our
country.

William married the love of his life, Carol Long, on March 15, 1969 and together they raised two children. William was a member of White’s Chapel Church. He made his profession of faith at an early age and recently reaffirmed that faith and commitment to the Lord.

William began his career with Grainger in 1963 as a part-time branch warehouse employee and was promoted to regional operations manager and then regional sales manager. He worked at several Grainger branches and made friends with many customers and associates. William retired from Grainger in 1999 after 38 years of service.

William had a great passion for work and making things happen. This led him to a consulting position with Port-A-Cool, LLC in Center, Texas. He was vice president of sales with the parent company, General Shelters of Texas, then became President/CEO of Port-A-Cool, LLC until his retirement in January 2014. “The most rewarding thing about my time with Grainger was my relationships with the people,” he said. “I loved watching them grow and develop into leaders and I will really value those relationships when I retire.” He developed those same relationships with his associates at Port-A-Cool during his time there.

Over the years, William enjoyed many adventures with friends. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, Harley trips and attending sporting events. The hunting and fishing expeditions extended to four countries.

William leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Carol. They were blessed to share much joy and many adventures during their nearly 54-year-marriage. He was survived by his children Allyson (Charlie) Daigle and Jeff (Misti) Lloyd. William also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: William Joseph (Ashleigh) Liska, Elizabeth Liska (Jonatan Flores), Kennedi McClain Lloyd and Bristol Miranda Lloyd. His great-granddaughter, Adilynn Liska, has added much joy to his life during her almost four years.

William is survived by his dear sisters Willie (Benny) Merrell, Minnie (Lee) Dukes, Ruth (Jim) Ward, Cathy (David) Kulla and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Willie and Norvelle Lloyd and his brother John Lloyd. He will be remembered mostly for his deep love for family and an unselfish and generous heart for any friend or stranger who crossed his path. He truly loved life and the people in it.

William was a life sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Center Rotary Club and a Gold Level member of the Catherine Pinkston Roughriders Scholarship Foundation. He cooked with the Shelby County Cookers and was a life member of Texas Exes. He was a member of the HEB American Legion Post 379, the U.S. Army Historical Foundation and FOE Eagles 3719.
