William Andrew Terry

January 15, 1949 — January 30, 2022

On Sunday, January 30, 2022 beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Bill Terry of Crowley, Texas passed into eternity after a month-long battle with Covid-19. He had just celebrated his 73rd birthday. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at South Burleson Baptist Church, 675 West Hidden Creek Parkway, Burleson, TX 76028. All are welcome. Flower deliveries may be received Friday, February 4 from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Des Moines, IA in July.

Bill Terry was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 15, 1949 to Marion Ashley Boyce and Gerald Alexander Terry. He attended East High School in Des Moines and graduated in 1967.

He joined the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne in Vietnam where he served proudly. He was declared a disabled veteran for his exposure to Agent Orange during the war.

Bill adopted 4 children and raised them in Des Moines along with several foster children. He worked as a dispatcher for the Des Moines Police Department. In 1997, he married Bobbi Jean Foster Hay in Ankeny, Iowa, and step-children, Daniel and Michelle joined his life.

Bobbi and Bill worked in Real Estate for many years. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1998 and then to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 2001 so they could be closer to Bobbi’s parents. They owned rental homes, loved traveling and family reunions and collecting many Skipperkees and Maltese dogs. In 2011, they moved to Boerne, TX and lived next door to Bill’s son, Todd and his wife, Delia. Bill bought an RV in 2013 and a new adventure began! He loved traveling around with own sleep number bed in the back and his dogs in his lap. In 2017, Bobbi and Bill moved to Crowley, TX to be close to grandchildren, whom they helped raise. He was a man of many talents and projects; always improving his home or helping others. When he rested, you’d find him in his oversized recliner with dogs and babies in his lap, watching NASCAR on Sunday, Hallmark Movies in winter and Westerns and War Movies the rest of the year.

Bobbi and Bill loved being together and taking care of each other. Longtime church attenders, they recently joined a church rejuvenation as members of South Burleson Baptist Church in Burleson, TX.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald A. Terry and Marion Ashley Boyce; brother, Gerald A. Terry, Jr.; and sisters, Geraldine A. Terry Leege and Betty J. Terry Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbi Jean Terry; brother, Ralph E. Terry Sr. and wife, Lovie; sister, Marion L. Terry Gess and husband, Ken; son, Todd Terry and wife, Delia and their children: Allison Garcia and husband, Mike (and great- granddaughter, Olivia on the way), Kyle Terry and wife, Cheyene (and great- grandchildren, Kameren, Kamiliha, Myla, Vladimir and Lilith), and Sean Terry and wife, Naila (and great-granddaughter, Naila); daughter, Belynda Terry Dingman and husband, Joel and their children: Daniel “D.J” Kling (and great-grandson Levi), Isabelle Kling (and great-granddaughter, Zuri), Izec Dingman and Luke Dingman; daughter, Teresa Terry Anslem and husband, Matt, and their children: Penelope Anselm and Pierce Anselm; son, James Young and wife, Brandy, and their children: Phoenix Young and Maddy Young; step-children, Daniel Hay and wife, Amy, and their children: Sadie Hay, Jackson Hay, Bonnie Hay, Ruthie Hay and one Hay on the way; step-daughter, Michelle Hay; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bill Terry will always be remembered as a gentle-giant (he was 6’6”!) with a deep, gruff voice, who discovered one of the greatest keys to a happy life is welcoming more people to love as family. He opened his life to so many children and friends over the years and leaves within them a legacy; a foundation of security, self-confidence and knowledge that they are worthy of great love and care.
