William Jonathan West

October 21, 2004 — January 17, 2023

William Jonathan West, age 18, of Grapevine, Texas, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2023. Jonathan was born on October 21, 2004 to Misty and Jody West. During his senior year and after graduating high school in 2022, Jonathan worked at Landscape Systems and Garden Center in Keller. He was an active member of the youth and college group at Countryside Bible Church in Southlake, and in 2022, he professed his faith and was baptized in front of his church community.

Jonathan was known for his sharp wit, kind heart, and abundant love for his family and friends. Generosity with his time and resources demonstrated Jonathan’s giving and kind attitude. In fact, when family members were asked to describe Jonathan, words like “generous,” “compassionate,” “ambitious,” “fun-loving,” “creative,” “honest,” “brave,” and “smart” came up frequently. Jonathan was a very hard worker, and frequently volunteered to help with weddings, moves, or any needs of those that he loved. He was very proud of his truck, which he bought from the money he saved over time. He loved travelling to new places, especially when elk hunting “on the adventure train” with his cousins and Papaw Ford in the mountains out west. He loved to dance, particularly with his sisters, cousins, and Aunt Nelda. Jonathan was an excellent cook; he perfected pie recipes and fettuccine Alfredo dishes over the years. He could often be seen wearing silly socks and Vans shoes, which further expressed his goofy personality. Jonathan always made sure that his sisters were taken care of, for he adored them. His love of kayaking, skateboarding, and most recently, snowboarding, expressed his sense of adventure and how he cherished the outdoors. Favorite memories of loved ones include hunting, fishing, hiking, playing board games, and silly moments of laughter.

Jonathan’s memory lives on with his parents, Misty G. (Ford) and William H. “Jody” West, and his sisters, Mychal and Rayne West. He is survived by his Grandparents Gary and Karen West, Sandra and Wendell Moody, Bob and Gayle Armstrong, Jim and Debbie Ford, and numerous extended family members that treasure and adore him.

Jonathan’s legacy will carry on forever, reminding us to live a life full of love and service, just as Christ modeled for us. No words can properly express the impact that Jonathan made on the lives around him or how much he will be missed. In reflection of his faith, Jonathan’s family wishes to celebrate his everlasting life that is promised to all through Christ.
