William D. Winter, 83, of Bedford, passed away peacefully Monday, September 30, 2024 in Bedford. He was born April 8, 1941 in Bellwood, Illinios to the late David and Molly Winter.
Bill graduated from Glenbard High School and Elmhurst College in Illinois. He married the love of his life, Donna J. Wolbing, June 22, 1963. They were happily married for sixty-one years. Bill served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon completion of his service, Bill went to work for American Airlines where he became a flight dispatcher, retiring after 30 years.
Bill loved to fish, hunt pheasants, and play golf. After retirement, he set up a golf league for over 300 men.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Winter; his sister, Sandy; 2 nieces; 3 nephews; an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schumacher.
A visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Lucas Memorial Funeral Chapel, Hurst, and will last until service time. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Lucas Memorial Funeral Chapel in Hurst. Interment will follow at a later date at the Chapel Hill Gardens West Memorial Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
Those serving as honorary pallbearers include, Bob Waterman, Al Bjornson, Ralph Berlingier, Jon Peach, Ferris Winterberg, Charlie Higginbotham, Joe Blackwell, and Ken Donath.
