Willie Flatt

December 28, 1959 — March 21, 2025

Willie Francis Flatt II, known for his infectious enthusiasm and love for adventure, passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on December 28, 1959, to Chiquita Reed, Willie lived life with energy, creativity, and a refusal to play it safe. Whether he was behind the wheel of his motorcycle or jumping out of an airplane, he always sought the next thrill and embraced every opportunity with open arms.

A music lover through and through, Willie’s taste in tunes was as loud as his personality. He cranked up the volume to the point where the neighbors either joined in or called the cops—his love for rock 'n' roll was undeniable, and it was impossible not to know when he was around.

He was also known for his collection of exotic pets, including snakes and tarantulas. While most people might flinch at the thought of having a tarantula crawl across their face, Willie was fearless—letting the creatures crawl freely as he showed just how tough (and quirky) he truly was.

Willie was a hands-on father and coach. Whether coaching his own kids’ teams or his grandkids’, he was always there, pushing his athletes to give their all. He could be a bit of a hard-ass, but he knew how to get results. Thanks to his tough love and unwavering belief in his players, his kids and grandkids were never just participants—they were contenders.

Willie’s greatest joy was being with his family. He adored his children, Nick Flatt, Zanna Flatt, Chris Evans, and his grandchildren, Conner, Axel, Maddox, Kayden and Scarlet. Whether he was cheering at a game or taking them on their next adventure, he was there every step of the way, showing up for his family in every way that mattered. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he made sure they knew it with every hug, laugh, and word of encouragement.

Willie is survived by his children, Nick Flatt, Zanna Flatt, and Chris Evans, his beloved grandchildren, Conner, Axel, Maddox, Kayden and Scarlet, his mother, Chiquita Reed, and his siblings, Jim Owens, John Flatt, Shelia Glenn, and Jamie Kelley.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Flatt, who passed away six months prior, and his grandson, Brody Gerst, who passed away at birth. Willie and Tammy will always be remembered as a team who deeply loved and supported their family.

Willie’s boundless energy, love for life, and dedication to his family will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and the love of family.
