GRAPEVINE -- Wilma Jean Vanden Eykel passed away Friday, May 3, 2013.        Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Grapevine on Church Street. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice, www.vnatexas.org , 1600 Viceroy Drive, Dallas, Texas 75235-2316. Wilma was born Feb. 10, 1920. She was married 61 years to Martin D. Vanden Eykel and had four children. Wilma was very active in POW/MIA activities, due to the loss of her oldest son (MIA) in Vietnam. She was the first honorary lifetime member of the Colleyville Garden Club. Wilma became an avid golfer at the age of 60. She loved her church: First United Methodist of Grapevine, where she was very active with the Roundtable Sunday school class, the thrift shop and numerous Bible studies. Wilma recently lived at South Colleyvine Ranch in Grapevine. She loved living there and loved all her friends. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband; eldest son, Martin D. Vanden Eykel II; her parents; brother; and sisters. Survivors: Her three remaining children, Maurice Vanden Eykel and wife, Virginia, Ike Vanden Eykel and wife, Cathy, Marcia Vanden Eykel; daughter-in-law, Betty Vanden Eykel; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
