Wyman Allyn Bess was born in Franklin, Illinois on October 22, 1935, the fifth child of Lester and Opal Bess. He was married to Arlene Sizer on September 7, 1957. Wyman went to heaven on July 13, 2023.
Wyman served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, including during the Vietnam war. He was stationed in San Antonio, Morocco, Madrid, Amarillo, Thailand, and Hawaii. After leaving the Air Force, Wyman went on to work for Marriott Hotels in human resources, and then as a Lay Minister at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton, Texas.
Wyman was an avid reader and loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. He also enjoyed photography, taking a wide array of pictures of old churches. He also loved telling stories from his youth.
Wyman was always active in the churches he attended. He served in many leadership roles, including areas of spiritual care and equipping of the laity. Above all, Wyman had a deep faith in His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Wyman is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Opal, siblings Mardel, Norman, Merle Dean, and Naomi. He is survived by his wife Arlene, children Karen Bess Bouillon, Kevin Bess, Keith Bess and Karla Bess Balduc; grandchildren Stephanie Fox Mitchell, Tori Fox Chartier, Kristen Bess Parsley, Kody Bess, Benjamin Balduc, Hannah Balduc Rueff, Seth Balduc, and Noah Balduc; great grandchildren Trey Parsley, Isaac Parsley, Cage Mitchell, Mason Balduc and Elle Balduc.
