Yvonne "Bonnie" Kae Dale

September 28, 1939 — November 5, 2013

Faithful, loving Momma, devoted Grandma, sweet Nana, and loyal sister and friend, Yvonne (Bonnie) Kae Dale went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, November 5th, 2013 in Keller, Texas. She was 74 years young. Born on September 28th, 1939 in Elkton, South Dakota, Bonnie was the darling of her Grandparents, Jens and Annie Marie Steffensen, and Parents, Jim and Elsie Gunther, and Marion Anderson. She is survived by her three children, Michelle (Mike) Hair (Spokane, WA), Michael (Michele) Dale (Makawao, HI), and Carrie (Shawn) Macklin (Keller, TX); six grandchildren, Gemia, Erin, Sara, Mason, Matthew, and Mark; great-grandson Brody; and sister Sheila Gunther (Tacoma, WA). Bonnie also leaves a huge extended family of cousins, and her church family at The Met, who she loved dearly; they were all so precious to her.
Bonnie’s most precious relationship, however, was with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. With humor and love and a child-like faith, Bonnie led her family in the ways of Christ, always seeking to bring glory to God by loving Him and loving others. She grew in grace, knowing God as the Creator, and often enjoyed His creation at an ocean beach or riding horseback. Bonnie’s playful spirit brought joy to everyone, whether playing a game of cards or a big family reunion; she brought life to the party! She had a huge love for children and said if she could, she would have had a dozen of her own. So, her career path led to administrative positions with the Clover Park School District in Tacoma, Washington, where she was able to interact with hundreds of children and youth, many of whom needed her unconditional love and attention. When she retired in 2005, Bonnie moved to Texas where she served helping to care for her young grandsons, and preschool caregiver and greeter at her church. You could always count on getting a hug from Bonnie when you walked through the church doors!
Six years ago the Lord determined to deepen Bonnie’s testimony through suffering as a result of a severe fall, causing paralysis. Not long after, she was diagnosed with Alzheimers. As the disease progressed and her physical abilities declined, she continued worshiping God through music and evangelizing, telling anyone from nurses to the grocery checker how they needed to know Jesus and go to church. At the last moment of her life we saw her lift her head and hands as Jesus welcomed her home. Bonnie finished her race well.
Homegoing celebrations will be held in Keller, Texas at Lucas Funeral Home at 1:00pm on Monday, November 11, 2013 and in Washington State at later date to be announced.
